Pizza Party Hire your unique and innovative mobile pizza Melbourne caterers are going to be back at Seaworks Maritime Precinct this Australia Day long weekend, for the Seaworks Maritime Festival.

The 2015 Seaworks Maritime Festival is based around the Confederate raider CSS Shenandoah – and its visit to Port Phillip in January 1865.  This was one of the greatest stories of early colonial Melbourne – and Australia’s ONLY significant link to the American Civil War.    They are commemorate this event over the Australia Day long weekend.

“The ship arrived unannounced in Hobsons Bay on its way to the North Pacific Ocean to destroy the Union whaling fleet.  While docked in Melbourne, it illegally recruited 42 British subjects.  It went on to capture or sink 39 commercial Yankee ships by June 1865.  But as the Civil War had ended in April that year, the Shenandoah’s crew risked being captured by the Yankees and hung as pirates.  The Shenandoah fled to England and surrendered in November 1865.  Their recruitment of the Melbourne crew later contributed to a court ruling against England in 1871 and it was forced to compensate the United States with $US15.5 million in gold.    January 25 2015 marks the 150 anniversary of the arrival of this ship.

Activities over the long weekend include a variety of special displays, vendors and exhibits.  There are re-enactments, musket & canon firing, roving performances, Sea Shepherd ship tours, cruises, amusement rides for the kids, ship models, wooden boats and maritime exhibits.

Of course, throughout this long weekend, it would be remiss to not mention that there will also be a variety of food vendors on site – including the wonderful aromatic mobile pizza Melbourne company: Pizza Party Hire – with their Wood Fired Pizzas and Pizza Wraps.  Trading for the Festival is from 10am to 6pm – and entrance into the event is $15 for adults and $25 for a family – children and concession rates are also available.

Pizza Party Hire will be onsite over the 3 days, serving their healthy pizza wraps, delicious wood fired pizzas, and their ice cold drinks.  Pizzas start from $8 – $14, Pizza Wraps from $6 – $8.50 and you can pick up cold drinks for $3.00 – so come along and join in the fun of the 2015 Seaworks Maritime Festival.
